Big Bear Eagles Jackie and Shadow Welcome Two Eaglets Just in Time for Easter

Big Bear Eagles Jackie and Shadow Welcome Two Eaglets Just in Time for Easter

A picture-perfect moment in the mountains — Big Bear’s famous bald eagle couple, Jackie and Shadow, are parents once again.

After days of anticipation, the first chick began hatching Saturday night around 9:30 p.m., marking the first break of the shell for the season. The process took time, with the eaglet slowly working its way out over roughly 36 hours.

By early Sunday morning, that first fluffy eaglet had fully emerged, moving around the nest as thousands of viewers tuned in live.

And the excitement didn’t stop there.

A second chick followed soon after, hatching just before 9 a.m. Sunday — making for a truly special Easter morning in Big Bear.

The entire moment was captured on the live nest camera operated by the Friends of Big Bear Valley, allowing eagle fans across Southern California and beyond to witness what many are calling a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The video shows the newborn eaglets already active in the nest, as Jackie and Shadow continue to watch over their growing family.

With both chicks now hatched, all eyes remain on the nest as the nesting season continues — and viewers can keep following along through the live stream as the eaglets grow.
