Easter Brunch and Bonnet Contest at The Roost Raises More Than $12,000 for Voices for Children
Easter spirit was on full display in Cathedral City as The Roost hosted its fourth annual Easter Brunch and Bonnet Contest, raising more than $12,000 for Voices for Children.
The lively event brought together community members for a festive afternoon filled with colorful bonnets, entertainment, and fundraising for a cause that supports children in foster care. About a dozen participants entered the bonnet contest, showing off creative and eye-catching designs.
Taking first place was Tim Rogers of Palm Springs, whose bonnet, called Bunny Butt, earned him top honors and a $150 prize.
But the day’s biggest winner was Voices for Children. The nonprofit said the money raised will help support the recruitment and training of additional court-appointed special advocates, also known as CASA volunteers. Those volunteers are matched with children in foster care and help advocate for their needs.
Organizers said events like this are important not only because they raise critical funds, but also because they help spread awareness about the organization’s mission in the community.
The celebration also featured entertainment from local drag personalities, adding even more flair and fun to the holiday fundraiser.
With strong community support and a festive atmosphere, the event once again showed how local gatherings can make a meaningful impact for children who need support the most.
