Northbound Lane on Monty Hall Drive Closes This Week for Agua Caliente Fueling Station Construction

A stretch of Monty Hall Drive in Cathedral City is closed to northbound traffic starting this morning as crews dig underground electrical lines for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians' new fueling station near downtown.

Crews began trenching across Monty Hall Drive from west to east today, running electrical lines that will power the tribe's new gas station near the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Monty Hall Drive. The northbound lane is closed at East Palm Canyon Drive, though the southbound lane, running from the parking area near The Roost and Brunch 101 down to East Palm Canyon Drive, remains open. Access to nearby private property will be maintained throughout the week.

The closure is expected to lift by end of day Saturday, April 11, pending a Southern California Edison inspection scheduled for Thursday. City officials are recommending that drivers heading northbound use Highway 111, East Palm Canyon Drive, as their alternate route and allow extra travel time.

The Buddy Rogers Avenue and Monty Hall Drive intersection will remain open during construction. Cathedral City is coordinating traffic control on the public right-of-way while the tribe carries out the project.
