Airspace Restricted Over Indio During Coachella Festival to Ensure Public Safety

The city of Indio is reminding residents and visitors to be aware of strict airspace regulations in place during the upcoming Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Officials announced that a temporary flight restriction will be enforced from 1 p.m. on April 9 through 1 p.m. on April 13, covering the airspace above the festival grounds at the Empire Polo Club.

During this period, drones and all other unmanned aircraft systems are strictly prohibited. City officials emphasized that the restriction is a critical safety measure designed to protect the large crowds expected to attend the internationally renowned event.

Authorities are urging the public to comply with the rules, noting that unauthorized drone use could pose serious risks and may result in penalties. The restriction aligns with federal aviation safety guidelines and is part of broader efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment throughout the festival weekend.
