Southwest Airlines Limiting Carry-On Chargers Starting April 20th

Southwest Airlines Limiting Carry-On Chargers Starting April 20th

If you're flying Southwest soon, it's worth checking your carry-on before you head to the airport.

Starting April 20th, Southwest Airlines will only allow passengers to bring one portable charger on board. The airline says the new rule is aimed at reducing the risk of lithium battery fires, which have been increasing in frequency.

Southwest says it plans to focus on reminding passengers about the policy rather than strictly enforcing it, though travelers should still be prepared to leave extra chargers behind.

On the upside, the airline also announced plans to install in-seat power outlets on all of its planes by mid-2026.
