Three Southern California Men Arrested in $1 Million Lego Heist in Kern County
Three Southern California men have been arrested in connection with a massive cargo theft involving nearly $1 million worth of Lego products, according to authorities in Kern County.
Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Mojave Substation responded to reports of suspicious vehicles on Silver Queen Road on April 8. When deputies arrived, they spotted two box trucks leaving the area, prompting traffic stops on both vehicles.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspects as Jose Lopez of San Bernardino, Ruben Lopez Flores of Los Angeles, and Freddy Hernandez Polinar of Chino.
A search of the trucks revealed a large quantity of Lego products. Authorities also located two nearby freight trailers, which were later confirmed to have been stolen while transporting goods from Fort Worth, Texas to Moreno Valley.
Officials estimate the stolen cargo to be worth approximately $1 million.
All three suspects were arrested on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, cargo theft, and conspiracy. Authorities say both the stolen trailers and the Lego merchandise were successfully recovered.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about cargo theft across California, particularly involving high-value goods being transported through major distribution routes in the Inland Empire.
