Art District Fundraiser Supports Child Abuse Prevention Efforts

A powerful mix of art and advocacy is on display this weekend in Cathedral City, where local artists are supporting a meaningful cause.

More than 30 artists have contributed pieces for a special fundraiser at Anne Bedrick Gallery, benefiting the Loving Way Foundation. The nonprofit is dedicated to preventing child abuse, raising awareness, and supporting victims and their families.

The event, known as “McKenzie’s Hearts,” features artwork centered around heart-themed creations, symbolizing care and compassion. Organizers say a portion of every sale—10 percent—will go directly toward supporting the foundation’s mission.

Founder Don McCoy says the initiative is about more than fundraising. It’s also about education and visibility, particularly around issues like abusive head trauma, which often go unrecognized.

The event also highlights stories of resilience, including survivors like Waylon, who was abused as an infant and now serves as a symbol of hope for the organization’s work.

Community members are encouraged to attend, support local artists, and contribute to a cause focused on protecting children and strengthening families across the region.
