Security Guard Fires Shot to Stop Assault at Milwaukee Train Station, Suspect Arrested
A frightening scene unfolded at a Milwaukee train station after a security guard fired a shot to stop an alleged sexual assault, sending passengers running for safety.
The incident happened early Thursday morning at the Milwaukee Intermodal Station, where dozens of commuters were waiting for trains when they heard screaming followed by a gunshot.
Witnesses say panic quickly spread through the station, with many fearing the worst.
“We were just running,” one commuter said, describing the chaos as people rushed toward exits, believing there could be an active shooter.
Police say security guards discovered a man assaulting a 33-year-old woman near a restroom area. When the suspect became combative, a guard fired a single shot in an effort to stop the attack. Authorities say no one was struck by the gunfire.
The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was taken into custody.
Some witnesses praised the quick actions of the security team, saying they likely prevented a much worse situation.
Investigators are still reviewing the incident, including questions about the use of a personal firearm. Officials say the station is owned by the state but operated by third-party contractors, including security services.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full sequence of events.
