Suspect Arrested After Molotov Cocktail Thrown at OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s San Francisco Home

A suspect is in custody after a frightening incident targeting the home of Sam Altman in San Francisco.

Police say a 20-year-old man threw a Molotov cocktail at Altman’s home early Friday morning, sparking a fire at an exterior gate before fleeing the scene. The incident happened around 4 a.m., according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Authorities say the same suspect later went to the headquarters of OpenAI, where he allegedly made threats to burn down the building. Officers quickly responded and took the suspect into custody. Charges are still pending.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

OpenAI confirmed the events in a statement, thanking law enforcement for their rapid response and support in keeping employees safe. The company says it is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

The motive behind the attack has not yet been released, and the case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led up to the incidents.
