Traffic Flows Smoothly Into Coachella, Delays Expected in Key Areas

Traffic heading into the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is moving relatively smoothly this evening, though drivers are still seeing periods of stop-and-go congestion as thousands make their way into the valley.

Officials say conditions have improved compared to earlier in the day, but delays remain across several major routes, not just along Interstate 10. Festivalgoers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, especially as peak arrival hours continue.

Several road closures are in place throughout the festival weekends, particularly along Avenue 49, Avenue 50, and Avenue 52 near the Empire Polo Club, where the event is being held.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic is expected along Jefferson Street and Monroe Street, stretching from the freeway down to the festival grounds. Another major congestion point is Washington Street, especially near the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. That location is serving as a key hub where attendees pick up wristbands and board shuttle buses to the venue.

With large crowds continuing to arrive, officials say the best strategy is to map out routes in advance and stay updated on traffic conditions throughout the evening.
