Desert Best Friends Closet fashion show highlights life-changing success stories in Palm Springs

A Palm Springs nonprofit is celebrating transformation and opportunity through fashion.

Desert Best Friends Closet held its annual “Put Your Best Shoe Forward” fashion show, bringing clients, supporters, and community members together at the The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa.

The event spotlighted individuals who have benefited from the organization’s services, including professional attire, job training, and career development support. Many of those clients took to the runway, sharing their journeys and successes.

Board member Matt McElroy said the event goes far beyond style, highlighting the real impact the nonprofit has on people’s lives.

Desert Best Friends Closet focuses on helping individuals build confidence and prepare for the workforce by providing professional wardrobes and essential job skills.

One participant, Timothy, shared how the program helped him dramatically improve his career path. He said he went from earning $40,000 a year to more than $80,000 with full benefits, crediting the organization for giving him the tools to succeed.

Supporters say the annual event not only raises awareness but also helps expand the nonprofit’s ability to serve more people across the Coachella Valley.

As participants walked the runway, their stories served as a reminder that for many, the right support can open the door to a fresh start and lasting opportunity.
