Indio City Council to Vote on Veterans Memorial Project

The Indio City Council is set to vote on a new Veterans Memorial Project planned for Indio.

The proposed memorial would be built at Miles Avenue Park and is designed to honor those who have served in all branches of the U.S. military.

Plans include seven pillars representing each branch of the armed forces, with an American flag centered as the focal point. The design also features an ADA-compliant walkway, along with benches and landscaped areas for reflection.

The project currently carries a budget of $500,000.

City leaders say the memorial’s location— near the existing 9/11 tribute— adds to its significance, creating a space where the community can come together to honor local veterans and remember lives lost in service.

The council is expected to review and vote on both the design and funding during Wednesday’s meeting.
