Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 Kills One, Closes Westbound Lanes Near Washington Street

One person is dead following a major crash on Interstate 10 near Washington Street on Tuesday morning, with westbound lanes still partially closed as crews work the scene.
The California Highway Patrol says a semi-truck traveling eastbound collided with three vehicles before crossing the center divider, crashing through a metal guardrail, and slamming into a cement truck. A yellow Jeep also hit the back of the big rig. Six vehicles were involved in total.
The driver of the cement truck was killed. The semi-truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital, with injuries described as unknown at this time. All other people involved suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for care, according to CHP.
Eastbound lanes are fully open. On the westbound side, only the number 1 lane is open, with the remaining lanes and the on-ramp still closed. The duration of the Sig Alert is unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time.
