Riverside County Approves Thermal Bridge Project, Eminent Domain Process Begins

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved a key step in moving forward with a major bridge improvement project in Thermal.

County leaders voted to begin eminent domain proceedings to secure the land needed for the Airport Boulevard bridge replacement. The project is designed to improve safety and infrastructure in the area, particularly where the roadway crosses the Whitewater River.

Plans for the project include raising the bridge, widening sidewalks, upgrading nearby roads, and reinforcing structures to better withstand environmental conditions.

Officials say the project will not displace any homes or businesses, easing concerns for residents and local property owners. Most of the funding for land acquisition and construction is expected to come from state sources.

Once the necessary land agreements are finalized, construction on the long-anticipated project could begin.
