Indio Approves Veterans Memorial Project for Downtown Park
The Indio City Council has unanimously approved plans for a new Veterans Memorial Project to be built in the city’s downtown area at Miles Avenue Park.
Council members reviewed both the design and budget before giving final approval for the $500,000 project, which is intended to honor local veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
The memorial will feature seven pillars representing each branch of the military, with an American flag positioned at the center. Designers say the layout will ensure the memorial is clearly visible from Miles Avenue, with multiple entry points to improve accessibility.
Planned features include an ADA-compliant walkway, seating areas, and landscaped floral elements surrounding the memorial to create a reflective public space for visitors.
City leaders say the goal of the project is to provide a lasting tribute that recognizes the service and sacrifice of veterans while offering the community a dedicated place for remembrance and reflection.
