Three Dead After Wrong-Way Crash on I-10 in Coachella

Three people are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 near Coachella on Tuesday night, California Highway Patrol confirmed.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. on the eastbound I-10, east of Dillon Rd. CHP says a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck a Honda Accord head-on in the number one lane. Everyone involved was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Camry's driver was identified as a 71-year-old man from Orange, California. The Accord's driver was a 50-year-old woman from Phoenix, Arizona. A passenger in the Accord also died, though that person's identity has not been confirmed at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the full identities of those involved have not yet been released.
