Driver Identified in Fatal Crash Near Palm Springs Airport

A deadly crash near the Palm Springs International Airport is under investigation this morning.

Authorities have identified the driver as 25-year-old Anthony De La Rosa of Desert Hot Springs.

Police say the crash happened around 2 a.m. when De La Rosa was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed along East Tahquitz Canyon Way and lost control of the vehicle.

Investigators say the car went airborne before crashing into a parked vehicle in the airport lot. De La Rosa was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Officials are continuing to investigate the crash, including whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
