Eggs, PJs, and Mushrooms, Oh My! Jerry Steffen's Holiday Calendar Has Us Covered This Thursday
First up, today is National Eggs Benedict Day! The beloved brunch staple traces its origins all the way back to 1894, when a New York stockbroker walked into the Waldorf Hotel and ordered a very specific combination of
buttered toast, poached eggs, crispy bacon, and hollandaise sauce. The hotel loved the idea so much it went straight onto the menu, and the rest is delicious history. Named after a stockbroker, beloved by everyone.
But wait, there is more. Today is also National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day, which means after scrambling to meet Tuesday's tax deadline, the universe is officially giving you permission to show up in your comfiest clothes. Consider it a well-earned breather.
And rounding out the calendar, today is also Day of the Mushroom! A day to celebrate fun guys and fun girls everywhere, and, as it turns out, the perfect inspiration for today's pop quiz.
Jerry brought two mushroom-themed multiple choice questions to the table this morning. Think you know your video games and your classic rock? Put yourself to the test!
1) In this iconic Nintendo side-scrolling platform game, mushroom power-ups increase a character's size, allowing them to break certain blocks. What game are we talking about?
A) Donkey Kong
B) Minecraft
C) Super Mario
2) "White Rabbit" is one of two late 1960s Billboard Top 10 hits from the San Francisco psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane. In the song, after the lyrics describing someone who has just had some kind of mushroom and whose mind is moving slow, who do they say to ask, because she'll know?
A) Abby
B) Alice
C) Anna
Watch the video to see if you've got what it takes, and find out if today was as clean a sweep for you as it was in the studio this morning!
