IID secures state funding to repair storm-damaged infrastructure in Coachella Valley

The Imperial Irrigation District is moving forward with repairs to storm-damaged infrastructure across the Coachella Valley, thanks to newly secured state funding.

Officials say the district received grants through the California Disaster Assistance Act to fix damage caused during the 2025 storms. The funding will be used to repair power poles, transmission lines, and other critical equipment impacted by severe weather.

The goal is to strengthen the region’s energy system while preventing customers from having to shoulder the full cost of repairs.

IID leaders say the upgrades will not only restore damaged infrastructure but also improve long-term reliability, helping reduce the risk of outages in future storms.

As the Coachella Valley continues to grow, officials say maintaining a strong and resilient power grid is essential to supporting homes, businesses, and public services.

The funding marks a key step in ensuring the region’s infrastructure is better prepared for extreme weather moving forward.
