State Grants Fund Major Storm Repairs Across Coachella Valley
More than $20 million in state funding is being allocated to repair storm-damaged infrastructure across the Coachella Valley, helping restore and strengthen the region’s power systems.
The Imperial Irrigation District secured the grants through the California Disaster Assistance Act following damage caused by severe storms in 2025.
The funding will be used to repair and replace critical infrastructure, including power poles, transmission lines, and other essential electrical equipment. Officials say these improvements are key to ensuring long-term energy reliability across the region.
Leaders also emphasized that the state funding will help ease the financial burden on customers by covering much of the repair costs, rather than passing those expenses directly onto ratepayers.
With upgrades underway, officials say the investment will not only address past storm damage but also better prepare the Coachella Valley for future extreme weather events.
