Sunnylands hosts free Family Day with nature activities ahead of Earth Day
Families across the Coachella Valley are invited to connect with nature at a free community event this weekend at Sunnylands Center and Gardens.
Family Day in the Gardens will take place April 19, offering a variety of hands-on activities focused on desert plants, wildlife, and sustainability. The event is designed to be both fun and educational, giving kids and adults a chance to learn more about the local environment.
Guests can take part in guided bird walks, explore interactive exhibits featuring reptiles and insects, and enjoy arts and crafts made with natural materials. Organizers say the goal is to encourage curiosity about nature while promoting environmental awareness.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and comes just ahead of Earth Day, making it a perfect opportunity for families to celebrate and learn about conservation efforts in the desert.
Officials say events like this help build a stronger connection between the community and the environment, especially for younger generations.
