Loomis man with autism turns passion for collectibles into thriving business

A young man in Northern California is inspiring others by turning his passion into purpose during Autism Awareness Month.

At just 23 years old, Cameron Weitzel of Loomis has launched his own online business, Cameron’s Collectibles, where he sells retro items and nostalgic treasures, including Hot Wheels cars and vintage toys.

Weitzel handles every part of the process himself—from selecting items to photographing and listing them online—showcasing his independence and dedication.

His journey hasn’t been easy. His family says doctors once believed he would be nonverbal. But through persistence, support, and determination, Weitzel has defied expectations.

His mother says their family leaned on faith and resilience, even during the most challenging moments. They also created a blog, “Rockin Autism Journey,” to share their story and connect with others facing similar challenges.

Weitzel’s story reflects a broader trend, as autism diagnoses continue to rise nationwide, highlighting the importance of awareness, inclusion, and support for families.

For him, the business is more than just selling collectibles—it’s about building confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose.

He says while the journey can be difficult at times, it continues to get easier, offering hope and inspiration to others along the way.
