Water Wise Wednesday: CVWD shares festival hydration tips for Coachella crowds
Festival season is in full swing across the Coachella Valley, and staying hydrated is key to enjoying the experience safely.
During Water Wise Wednesday, brought to you by the Coachella Valley Water District, Communications Manager Lorraine Garcia shared simple but important tips to help festivalgoers beat the heat.
Garcia recommends bringing a reusable water bottle or a hydration pack—backpack-style water systems that allow you to sip water throughout the day. Many festivals offer refill stations, making it easier to stay hydrated without constantly purchasing drinks.
She also advises attendees to check festival rules ahead of time to make sure hydration packs and bottles are allowed, as entry policies can vary.
With temperatures often climbing during the day, Garcia says it’s important to be prepared if you’ll be in direct sunlight. Wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, and drinking water consistently can help prevent dehydration.
Electrolytes can also play a role, especially during extreme heat, helping the body maintain proper hydration levels.
Officials say planning ahead and taking small steps can make a big difference in staying safe while enjoying outdoor events.
