Cheesy, Cakey, and a Little Hazy: April 20th Has the Most Delicious (and Interesting) Holiday Lineup

First up, it's National Cheddar Fries Day. That's right, crispy golden fries smothered in melted cheese and whatever other toppings you can pile on. Delicious? Absolutely. A balanced meal? We'll leave that up to you.

It's also National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day, celebrating one of the most satisfying desserts around. The classic recipe involves layering fruit and batter into a round pan, baking it, and flipping the whole thing over to reveal a caramelized, golden top. If you've never tried it, today is the perfect excuse.

And of course, it wouldn't be April 20th without National 420 Day. The term "420" has been slang for marijuana for decades, with its origins tracing back to a group of students at San Rafael High School in California in the early 1970s, who reportedly used the code to meet after school at 4:20 in the afternoon. Over the years, the term was picked up by the magazine High Times and spread widely through Grateful Dead culture until it became the cultural landmark it is today.

In honor of 420 Day, Jerry brought two pop quiz questions to the morning show, and they are trickier than they look. Think you know your classic rock and stoner cinema history? Put your knowledge to the test by watching the video above, then check your answers against the questions below.

Pop Quiz: 420 Edition

1) Tom Petty's 1994 Billboard Top 20 hit "You Don't Know How It Feels" featured a chorus line that was considered controversial for radio at the time. Petty's label, Warner Brothers, provided radio stations with an alternate version of the song, swapping out the original lyric. What did the radio edit change the line to?

A) Let's hit another joint

B) Let's play another joint

C) Let's rock another joint

2) The 1978 comedy film "Up in Smoke" follows Cheech and Chong as they stumble through a series of misadventures, eventually landing on stage at a Battle of the Bands competition. They perform a song called "Earache My Eye" under a band name that was a mashup of two well-known rock acts of the era. What was the name of the band?

A) Alice Bowie

B) Moody Heap

C) The Pink Stones
