Henderson Animal Protection Services Rescues Over 40 Animals from Unsanitary Illegal Operation
HENDERSON, Nev. — The City of Henderson Animal Protection Services has successfully removed more than 40 animals from a residential property following reports of severe neglect and illegal business operations. Officials described the living conditions within the home as both unsafe and unsanitary for the diverse group of animals discovered inside.
⠀
The rescue operation uncovered a wide variety of species, including dogs, cats, birds, turtles, and ferrets. While many of the animals appeared stable, several were identified as being in need of urgent medical attention. All rescued animals were immediately transferred to the care of Animal Protection Services for evaluation and treatment.
⠀
The investigation began after a call for service led investigators to discover that a nonprofit organization, reportedly named Street to Sanctuary, was being operated out of the residence. This type of commercial animal operation within a home is a direct violation of Henderson city ordinances. Neighbors reported seeing cat towers and cages piled outside the property following the official response.
⠀
While officials attempted to contact the individual responsible for the operation at the home, no one answered for investigators on Monday morning. The operator of the illegal rescue is expected to be cited as the municipal investigation continues to determine how long the organization had been running and why the conditions were allowed to deteriorate.
⠀
Animal Protection Services has confirmed that all rescued animals will remain under their professional care for the foreseeable future. Once the animals have been cleared by veterinary staff and deemed healthy, they will be made available for adoption to the public.
