Singer David Anthony Burke Charged with Murder in Teen’s Death

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has filed murder charges against 21-year-old singer David Anthony Burke in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Burke, who performs under the stage name “David,” was arrested last Thursday—seven months after the girl’s body was discovered in a vehicle near his home in Hollywood. Authorities say the vehicle, a Tesla, had been towed after appearing abandoned. Investigators later found the victim’s remains inside the trunk.

The case stretches back more than a year before that discovery, when Hernandez’s family reported the seventh grader missing. Officials say it remains unclear what happened to her during that time or exactly when she died.

Prosecutors have not yet released additional details about the circumstances leading to the charges. Burke is currently being held without bail as the case moves forward.

His attorneys say he plans to fight the allegations and maintain his innocence.
