"Sun Bucks" Program Returning to Help Families with Summer Meals

Families across California will once again receive support for groceries this summer through a statewide food assistance program.

No Kid Hungry California says its “Sun Bucks” program is returning, providing $120 per child to help cover meals while school is out.

Eligible families will automatically receive benefits, while others may need to apply through their child’s school. Families can check their eligibility by visiting summerebt.org/states/california.

Officials say the goal is to help bridge the gap when students lose access to school meal programs during summer break.

Families are also being urged to update their mailing addresses to ensure benefits arrive on time and without delay.

The program has been widely used in past years to help reduce food insecurity during school vacations.
