Disney Artist Dave Woodman Brings Mary Blair Festival to Palm Springs
A mini film festival honoring one of Disney's most influential artists is coming to the Palm Springs Cultural Center this weekend, and one of the studio's own will be there in person.
"Into Wonderland: The Films of Mary Blair" is a four-film celebration of Blair, the artist whose bold use of color and shape helped define the look of mid-century Disney animation. The festival runs Friday through Saturday at the Historic Camelot Theatre, pairing classic screenings with themed food, cocktails, and interactive art elements.
Dave Woodman, who contributed to Disney classics including "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," and "The Little Mermaid," is scheduled to appear as a special guest. Following the Saturday evening screening of "Alice in Wonderland," Woodman will draw Disney-themed caricatures alongside festival guests.
The full schedule includes "Cinderella" on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m., followed by three films on Saturday, April 25: a free screening of "Saludos Amigos" at 1 p.m., "Peter Pan" at 3 p.m., and "Alice in Wonderland" at 6 p.m.
Tickets and schedule information are available at PSCulturalCenter.org.
