Dust Advisory Extended as Strong Winds Impact Coachella Valley
A windblown dust advisory remains in effect across the Coachella Valley through Wednesday night at 11:59 p.m., as strong winds continue to impact the region.
Officials warn that gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour, creating widespread blowing dust and significantly reducing air quality—especially in the northern parts of the valley. Conditions in those areas could reach unhealthy levels at times.
Health experts are advising residents to limit time outdoors, particularly during periods of heavy dust. People are encouraged to keep windows and doors closed, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and use air conditioning or air purifiers if available to maintain indoor air quality.
Those with respiratory conditions, older adults, and children may be especially sensitive to poor air conditions and should take extra precautions.
Drivers are also urged to use caution, as blowing dust can reduce visibility on roadways, creating hazardous travel conditions.
