Indio Police Report 106 Arrests and Curfew Fines Following Second Weekend of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

Law enforcement officials in Indio have released an updated enforcement report following the conclusion of the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, detailing a significant number of arrests and multiple curfew-related fines issued to festival organizers.

According to the Indio Police Department, officers made 106 arrests over the course of the weekend. The majority of these incidents were tied to drug-related offenses, driving under the influence, possession of fake identification, and trespassing violations. Authorities also reported issuing 87 citations related to disabled parking placards, most of which involved improper or fraudulent use.

Festival traffic also created logistical challenges, with parking areas reaching full capacity. As a result, some vehicles were redirected to overflow parking at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to manage congestion and maintain safety around the venue.

In addition to policing activity, the city of Indio imposed fines on festival operator Goldenvoice for curfew violations during weekend two of the event. Under the city’s agreement with organizers, any performance exceeding the 1 a.m. curfew results in a $20,000 penalty, plus an additional $1,000 for each minute beyond five minutes past the cutoff.

This weekend’s fines totaled $44,000. Electronic artist Anima was fined $24,000 for finishing his set at 1:09 a.m. on Saturday, while Justin Bieber received a $20,000 fine for exceeding the curfew by two minutes during his early Sunday performance.

City officials confirmed that no fines were issued during the first weekend of the festival, marking a stricter enforcement outcome in the second half of the event.
