TONIGHT: Jennie Garth at The Plaza Theatre

The final chapter of the 7th season of Palm Springs Speaks is set to take place tonight, bringing an exciting and intimate evening to the Plaza Theatre.

Headlining the event is Jennie Garth, best known for her role on Beverly Hills 90210. Garth is currently on a book tour, and organizers say securing her appearance was no small feat. According to planning committee member Jeannie Kays, the process involves a mix of outreach to celebrities, coordination with publishers, and formal applications to bring top-tier talent to the desert.

“We applied and were able to get her through her publisher,” Kays explained. “We’re super excited—it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Adding to the excitement, Garth will be joined on stage by NBC Palm Springs’ own Thalia Hayden, who will lead the conversation. Organizers say they specifically chose Hayden for her ability to create a relaxed, engaging atmosphere that feels more like a natural conversation than a formal interview.

The series, now in its seventh season, has built a reputation for featuring a wide range of influential voices. Past speakers have included Al Gore, Emilio Estevez, Jane Fonda, and Deepak Chopra.

Kays also highlighted a memorable appearance by Rick Steves, who brought a unique and interactive approach to his book signing—gathering attendees in a circle and signing books in motion.

Beyond the star-studded lineup, the speaker series serves a meaningful purpose. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Palm Springs Public Library, supporting programs and resources for the local community.

Held inside the beautifully restored Plaza Theatre, the event offers not just compelling conversation but also a stunning and historic setting. “The technology is amazing, the place is magical,” Kays said.
