Dining Out for Life Is Tomorrow. Here's What You Need to Know.
Thursday, April 23rd, about 60 restaurants, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops across the Coachella Valley will donate a portion of their sales to DAP Health, and all you have to do is eat.
Dining Out for Life is back for its 22nd year, and DAP Health’s Steven Henke says the concept is simple: "You just go out and have coffee or a muffin or lunch or dinner at a participating location, and that location donates anywhere from 33 to 110 percent of their revenue that day." The food isn't marked up. There's no ticket. You just show up.
Every dollar raised stays local, funding HIV prevention and treatment for patients in Riverside and San Diego counties. Henke emphasized why that access matters: "When they do test positive at DAP Health, they get connected to the lifesaving medication they need right away."
The event runs all day, so supporters are encouraged to hit more than one spot. Participating restaurants are sorted by food type, time of day, or donation percentage at daphealth.org/dofl.
One small perk: diners get an "I Dined" sticker at participating locations, something Henke called a "badge of honor." Some regulars collect several throughout the day.
The event also runs simultaneously across North America, with all funds staying in the communities where they're raised. The Coachella Valley has ranked among the top three fundraising markets on the continent for three consecutive years, raising nearly $240,000 last year from more than 20,000 diners.
