Dining Out for Life 2026: Palm Springs Ranks Among Top Cities for HIV Care Fundraising

The Coachella Valley community is turning its appetite into action today for National Dining Out for Life. More than 60 local restaurants and bars are participating in the annual event, donating a significant portion of their sales to support DAP Health and its mission to provide HIV care, prevention, and education resources throughout the desert.

NBC Palm Springs contributor Stephen Henke reported live from Rooster and the Pig in downtown Palm Springs, one of the many establishments leading the charge. While the event is taking place in 24 other cities across the United States, Henke emphasized that the impact remains intensely local. Every penny raised in the valley stays in the valley to fund treatment and care for residents living with HIV.

Rooster and the Pig is setting a high bar for generosity this year by donating 100% of its total revenue tonight. Unlike many promotions that only share a portion of the profits, the restaurant is giving back every single cent spent by diners to support DAP Health.

During the event, Henke spoke with David Cox of "Dining Out with the Davids," who described the initiative as a "hug for the community." Cox noted that even the minimum donation from a restaurant owner represents a significant commitment to taking care of their neighbors and lifting up those in need.

A notable "fun fact" highlighted during the broadcast is that while Palm Springs is one of the smallest markets participating in the national campaign, it consistently ranks as the second or third highest fundraising city in the country. This serves as a testament to the desert's long-standing dedication to healthcare equity and community support.

Residents are encouraged to visit any of the participating locations tonight to help the Coachella Valley maintain its record-breaking support for DAP Health. By simply dining with friends or family, local residents are playing a direct role in funding healthcare resources that save lives every day.
