North Gene Autry Trail Now Reopened After High Winds Push Sand Onto Roadway

UPDATE: Now reopened as of 8:05 a.m.

North Gene Autry Trail at the wash reopened at 8:05 a.m. Thursday after high winds caused significant sand buildup on the road, forcing a closure that lasted nearly six hours.

The road shut down at around 2:30 a.m. between Salvia and Via Escuela after blowing sand created dangerous low-visibility conditions for drivers. No injuries were reported during the closure.
