Server Of The Week
Server of the Week: Sergio Surprised with $1,000 Tip at Giuseppe’s at Shadow Ridge
In the heart of Palm Desert, a dedicated member of the local hospitality industry received the surprise of a lifetime this week. Sergio, a standout server at Giuseppe’s at Shadow Ridge, was officially named the NBC Palm Springs "Server of the Week," an honor that came with a life-changing $1,000 tip.
The surprise was delivered by Anthony Caridi of Honda and Toyota of the Desert, who joined forces with NBC Palm Springs to recognize the hard work that keeps the Coachella Valley’s dining scene thriving. Caridi caught Sergio completely off guard during a shift at the popular Shadow Ridge location, presenting him with the cash award in front of colleagues and patrons.
"I'm surprised about it," Sergio said, visibly moved by the gesture. "I didn't see this coming." When asked if he had any idea what the award entailed, Sergio admitted he was in the dark until the $1,000 was placed in his hands as a thank-you for his fantastic service.
The recognition was more than just a reward for good service; it was a celebration of Sergio’s long-standing commitment to the restaurant. Paul, a manager at Giuseppe’s, noted that Sergio has been a cornerstone of the establishment since its opening day. Beyond his duties as a server, Sergio has taken on a leadership role within the team, serving as a mentor and helping to train new staff members.
"It’s well-deserved," Paul said of the honor. "Sergio has been with us since the beginning. He has not only been an amazing server, but he’s helped train staff and been a mentor to other servers. He works wherever he’s needed and is just a joy to have as an employee."
The "Server of the Week" segment continues to highlight the individuals who go above and beyond in the valley's service industry. For Sergio, the extra $1,000 serves as a well-earned "thank you" for the countless hours spent ensuring every guest at Giuseppe’s feels like family.
