King Charles and Queen Camilla to Proceed with U.S. State Visit Despite Correspondents' Dinner Shooting
King Charles and Queen Camilla will move forward with their planned state visit to the United States this week, Buckingham Palace confirmed, following discussions with the White House.
The announcement comes after a gunman opened fire on security personnel near the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner Saturday night, prompting Secret Service to rush President Trump and other administration officials from the event.
A palace source says there may be minor adjustments to one or two events on the agenda, though the visit overall remains on schedule. The royal couple is set to arrive Monday.
During their time in Washington, King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to meet privately with the President and attend an address to Congress marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
