Trash Collection Rates May Increase for Some Riverside County Residents
Trash collection costs could soon increase for residents in parts of unincorporated Riverside County, including communities across the Coachella Valley.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors is expected to set a public hearing for May 12 to review proposed fee increases for solid waste services.
If approved, the roughly 3% rate hike would impact areas such as Bermuda Dunes, Thousand Palms, and North Palm Springs.
County officials say the adjustment is necessary to keep up with rising operational costs, including fuel, transportation, and landfill fees. They add that maintaining reliable waste collection services requires periodic rate updates as expenses increase.
If the proposal is approved following the public hearing, the new rates would take effect July 1.
