Palm Desert Aquatic Center Nears Reopening After Months of Delays

The Palm Desert Aquatic Center is almost back. City officials say the facility could reopen as soon as May 23, pending final inspections, after a closure that stretched well beyond its original timeline.

The center shut down in November 2025 for a $4 million overhaul of its pools' pumps, filtration systems, and heaters, all original equipment installed when the facility opened in 2011. The upgrades were designed to improve water quality, cut down on service interruptions, and boost energy efficiency.

The project was only supposed to take eight to ten weeks, but equipment manufacturing and delivery delays pushed the reopening back significantly. City officials say work could wrap up sooner than May 23 if final adjustments and health inspections clear ahead of schedule.

The aquatic center is located at 7351 Magnesia Falls Drive.
