Riverside County Approves 8.85% Increase in Sheriff Patrol Service Rates
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved an 8.85% increase in the hourly rate for sheriff patrol services, affecting multiple cities and agencies that contract for law enforcement coverage.
Under the new rates, the cost of a contracted deputy will rise from approximately $229 per hour to nearly $250 per hour. The increase is retroactive to July 1, 2025.
Officials say the adjustment is necessary to account for rising personnel-related expenses, including salaries, benefits, and pension obligations. The change impacts 16 cities and other agencies that rely on county sheriff services.
In addition to patrol rate increases, the board also approved updated facility cost adjustments. Some jurisdictions will see higher charges, while others may experience slight reductions depending on their specific agreements.
County leaders say the updates are intended to keep law enforcement services financially sustainable while maintaining consistent public safety coverage across contracting cities.
