Driver Identified in Deadly I-10 Freeway Crash Near Washington Street

The coroner’s office has identified the driver killed in a fiery crash on the Interstate 10 earlier this month.

Officials say 62-year-old George Mauricio of Yucca Valley died when a semi-truck traveling eastbound crossed the center divider just west of the Washington Street on-ramp and collided head-on with his truck.

Mauricio was pronounced dead at the scene, with several other drivers were also injured.

Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
