May Is Mental Health Awareness Month: Local Professionals Unite to Connect Community With Resources

As May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, a group of local mental health professionals is coming together this weekend to help connect residents with critical support services and resources. The event is designed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide people with direct access to professionals who can offer guidance on mental health challenges ranging from anxiety and depression to trauma, addiction, and family stress.

Organizers say the goal is simple: make help easier to find and remind people they are not alone. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with counselors, therapists, wellness advocates, and community organizations offering services throughout the Coachella Valley. Information on crisis intervention, affordable counseling, youth support, and wellness programs will also be available. Mental health advocates say events like this are especially important as many people continue to navigate stress related to finances, relationships, work pressures, and overall well-being.

According to organizers, seeking help early can make a major difference, and creating spaces where conversations about mental health are welcomed can save lives.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend. For those in need of immediate support, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day by calling or texting 988.
