Pedestrian Killed in Late-Night Crash at East Palm Canyon and Cherokee Way

A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian in Palm Springs on Wednesday night. According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the collision occurred just after 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Cherokee Way.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on East Palm Canyon Drive when it struck a man in the eastern crosswalk. Police officials stated that the driver appeared to have the right of way, as the traffic signal was green at the time of the impact.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries but was later pronounced deceased. His identity has not yet been released, pending the notification of his next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. While it was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, authorities are conducting a thorough review to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
