Pet of the Week: Meet Charlie!

This week, Dan Rossi from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter stopped by NBC Palm Springs to introduce us to Charlie, a 5-year-old Pit Bull mix with a heart full of love and a story that proves every animal deserves a chance.

Charlie came to the shelter last October after his owner struggled for years with his constant circling. Rather than giving up on him, the shelter's medical team launched a full workup, and thanks to the Love Fund, they were able to send Charlie to a neurologist for an MRI. The diagnosis: immune-mediated encephalitis, a condition where his immune system attacked his own brain, causing some quirky, spinning behaviors that make him one of a kind. His neurologist confirms he is not in pain and not uncomfortable. He simply moves through life a little differently.

What hasn't changed is how incredibly sweet he is. Charlie is affectionate, lovable, and a staff favorite at the shelter. He does best as an only dog in the home, and the people who take the time to know him find one of the most special souls around. 

Also featured this week is Tristan, a stunning 3-year-old German Shepherd and Chow mix who is deeply loyal once he trusts you, and Dawson, a playful 2-year-old Lab mix who has been waiting over a year for his forever home. Both are available for adoption now.
