An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Sunday, May 3, 2026!

As a trough of low pressure soon moves through the Southwest, we will experience a few changes.

The Coachella Valley will see slightly above-normal high temperatures in the lower-90s today under lots of sunshine with clouds moving overhead later in the day.

This disturbance will also play a major role in producing strong, gusty on-shore winds between Sunday afternoon and most of Monday. Because of blowing dust and dirt, an Air Quality Alert has been posted for the Coachella Valley-area through Monday evening.

Any precipitation with this system over Southern California will be light and widely scattered and fall well West of the Coachella Valley.

The most noticeable result of this passing frontal boundary will be a reduction of Valley afternoon high temps which will fall from the lower-90s this afternoon to the upper-70s/lower-80s on Monday and Tuesday.
