Gas Prices Surge Across Riverside County Following Weekend Spike

Drivers in Riverside County are paying an average of $6.02 per gallon for regular gas as of Monday morning, up from $5.88 just one week ago. Prices had held relatively steady near that level for about a month before a noticeable spike hit over the weekend.

The jump is part of a broader national trend. AAA reported Saturday that the U.S. average for regular gasoline climbed to $4.45 a gallon, a 34-cent increase from the week prior. California's statewide average is even steeper, sitting at $6.10 per gallon.

Much of the increase traces back to February 28th, when the U.S. entered the war with Iran. Since then, the national average has risen $1.47 per gallon, as the conflict has disrupted global oil supplies and sent prices surging at stations across the country.
