Palm Springs Fire Department Kicks Off Brush Removal Season, Asks Residents to Help

Wildfire season is here, and the Palm Springs Fire Department is asking residents to do their part.

City crews kick off their annual brush removal program Tuesday morning at the Visitor Information Center on North Palm Canyon Drive, beginning two months of work that will clear 101 acres of dry brush across 14 city-owned lots throughout Palm Springs.

Fire officials say the work doesn't stop at city property, though. They're calling on residents in fire-prone neighborhoods to clear brush and maintain defensible space around their own homes before conditions worsen.
