Cathedral City Construction to Affect East Palm Canyon Drive Commuters Starting Today

Drivers heading through Cathedral City should plan ahead starting today. The city has begun construction on East Palm Canyon Drive for the installation of a new entryway monument, with lane restrictions expected to continue through May 29.

Work is taking place in the median between Date Palm Drive and Sungate Way, and the project rolls out in three phases. Beginning today through May 8, eastbound lanes will close in alternating phases, though at least one lane will remain open at all times. Westbound drivers will see one lane closed during two separate windows, May 11 through May 13 and again May 26 through May 29.

The city is asking drivers to reduce speed through the work zone, watch for workers and equipment, and consider alternate routes when possible during those windows.
