Firebirds Host Ontario Reign in Pivotal Game 3 at Acrisure Arena as Series Tied 1–1

It’s Game 3 tonight as the Coachella Valley Firebirds host the Ontario Reign at Acrisure Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m., with the best-of-five playoff series currently tied at one game apiece.

The Firebirds split the first two games on the road in Ontario, doing what they needed to do in a tough matchup against the Pacific Division’s top team, which finished the regular season with 99 points and earned a first-round bye.

After a strong opening win by the Firebirds, Ontario responded in Game 2, showing why they are considered one of the strongest teams in the division. That game remained tight, with just a one-goal margin heading into the third period.

Now the series shifts, where the Firebirds will play Games 3 and 4 on home ice. With three games remaining, the matchup essentially becomes a best-of-three series.

Key players to watch include goaltender Nikke Kokko, who delivered a shutout performance in Game 1, and forward Jani Nyman, who has become a key offensive contributor since joining the Firebirds lineup midseason. Both are expected to play major roles if the Firebirds want to take control of the series.

Tonight’s atmosphere is expected to be electric at Acrisure Arena, with a strong crowd on hand and added energy from Cinco de Mayo celebrations, making it one of the biggest home playoff nights of the season.

Full recap airs tonight at 11 p.m. on NBC Palm Springs.
