Teen Arrested in Fatal Indio Hit-and-Run That Killed Monday-Night Pedestrian
A 17-year-old boy was behind bars on Tuesday after Indio police say he struck and killed a woman and fled the scene on Monday night.
The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Golf Center Parkway, north of Avenue 45, where officers found a woman unresponsive in the street. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. The driver left before officers arrived.
Investigators followed numerous leads throughout the day Tuesday and identified the teen as the suspect, taking him into custody around 1 p.m. He has been booked into Indio Juvenile Hall on a felony hit-and-run charge. The victim has not yet been identified.
