Congressman Raul Ruiz Accuses Trump Administration of Corruption, Proposes “No Profits for Pardons Act”
Congressman Raul Ruiz is sharply criticizing the Trump administration, accusing it of corruption and proposing new legislation aimed at preventing presidents and their families from profiting from presidential pardons.
Speaking publicly, Ruiz called the Trump administration “the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States.” He alleged that corporate executives connected to financial support for Trump’s crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, are receiving favorable treatment, including pardons.
Ruiz also claimed that some individuals convicted of serious crimes, including sex offenses, are effectively “paying their way out” by financially supporting businesses tied to the Trump family.
In response, Ruiz says he is drafting legislation called the “No Profits for Pardons Act.”
According to the congressman, the proposed bill would make it illegal for a president, members of their family, or affiliated businesses to financially benefit from presidential pardons. Ruiz says the legislation would also require any pardoned individual tied to such financial arrangements to complete the remainder of their sentence if wrongdoing is proven in court.
Additionally, Ruiz says anyone found to have financially benefited from the pardons would be required to repay those profits to the U.S. Treasury.
The congressman also stated that he expects investigations into the matter if Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.
